All About My Services

Why Should I Hire a Housekeeper?

To some it may seem like a simple convenience but having someone else do cleaning frees up your valuable time so you can spend it doing the things you love with the people you love.

If you are a senior, or living with a disability, that doesn't require a home care worker hiring a housekeeper can allow you the relief of not having to clean while also allowing you to continue being independent in areas where you can be.

If you are a landlord, my services can help you transition between tenants and allow for clean spaces that will attract potential renters.

What Will You Clean?

If it’s a space or surface inside your home, apartment or office I will clean it.

Under What Conditions Won't You Clean?

I will not clean in buildings and homes which contain hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead paint. I will also not clean in buildings and homes which include hazardous or unsafe working conditions including spaces, in the midst of major construction, that are structurally unsound, have pest control issues, or contain an unsafe amount of black mold. Such issues should be addressed before I come to clean your home, office or apartment.

How Much Do You Charge?

Unless otherwise agreed upon, I charge by the hour. Rates are above minimum wage but are reasonably negotiable.

If a routine of labor and hours is established for weekly or bi-weekly cleaning I can agree to flat-rate my services. Specialty cleaning outside of general cleaning and seasonal jobs are not included in flat-rating.

If you are disabled you may receive payment which covers a part of, or all of, my services. Please check with Veteran Affairs, Social Services or your disability insurance to see if you are eligible and what assistance is provided. If you receive the Disability Tax-Credit you can claim what you pay me on your taxes.

Cleaning Is Great But Will You Also Do My Home's General Maintenance?

I'm happy to change reachable light bulbs, take out the trash, feed the dog, and even replace your vacuum’s filter. However, if it requires me climbing something other than a step-stool or breaking out the tool box, consider it something you should do yourself or hire the appropriate professional to tackle.

Do You Work Weekends, Holidays? Can I Count On You 52 Weeks a Year?

Unless it's special circumstances, I don't work weekends. I also don't work Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day and Canada Day. If you are receiving my services routinely I will make every effort to find a time during the week to reschedule if available and works for you.

If road conditions are unsafe, I am too sick to work, or I have an appointment during the week that prevents me from coming in for our scheduled time, I will let you know ASAP and reschedule the cleaning if possible.

Vacation breaks are taken throughout the year. I will let you know ahead when I will be away. I ask that you give me the same consideration if you are going to be away and don't need my services for a particular week(s).

How Long Will It Take You to Clean My Space?

While I make every reasonable effort to work in a timely matter the amount of time spent cleaning is dependent on factors such as number of rooms and bathrooms, how many physical things need to be washed or dusted, or the state of uncleanliness. Typically, homes take three to five hours to clean.

For those looking for weekly or bi-weekly cleaning note that overly cluttered spaces, or simply areas that haven’t been cleaned in some time, may need additional periods of cleaning, and, or, organizing, by me before I can establish a routine of labor.

How About Laundry?

Absolutely. Typically, most clients ask me to do bedding and other linens as I change bedding from week to week. But I can also wash your bath linens and clothes. Do note that doing laundry can add to my time each week depending on the number and size of loads.

If you have specific washing instructions for certain items please let me know ahead as not all items have washing instruction tags.

Do You Mind My Dog or Cat Running Lose While You Clean?

Clients with pets inside the home are absolutely encouraged to inquire about my services. Unless your pet is a physical risk to me [ie: could bite, scratch, etc.] or is likely to lick or ingest cleaning chemicals while I clean there is no need for you to contain your animals during the time I am in your home. I am very friendly with animals so please advise if your pets don’t like to be petted.

In addition, while I understand accidents inside the home can happen with pets, I ask that you make every reasonable effort to pick up after situations that happened in the time I am not in your home.

Do You Supply Cleaning Materials?

Generally, I rely on you the client to provide me with your preferred cleaning supplies and vacuum. This allows me to keep rates down. If you need suggestions for the best cleaning solutions, I am happy to recommend what works best. If you need me to bring my own supplies and solutions it will be at an additional cost to my standard rates. Please note I currently don’t have a vacuum.

Are You Also a Homecare Worker?

No. If someone is in need of meals cooked, in-home medical attention, ect. A homecare worker or in-home nurse should be hired.
